Fruit Loop - 5.2.12

full - 5212

Sweater: LOFT (2012)
Pants: J Crew / J Crew Clearance Center (2012)
Earrings: Target (2009)
Wedges: Nine West / endless.com (2011)

These pants are too big. I have saggy diaper butt which is NOT a good look on anyone, I don't care who you are. (Okay, maybe Ryan Gosling would look sexy with saggy diaper butt - but no one else.) I wonder if they'll shrink some after I wash and dry them - they are mostly cotton after all. Anyone own a pair of Minnies who can tell me one way or the other?

The top I bought the week before last during LOFT's Friends & Family sale for 40% off - I think it brought it down to around $24. I had to have it as soon as I saw the colors together - plum + orange? Yes! However, my husband refers to it as my Virginia Tech shirt (he is a Hokie alum) even after I tried to convince him the plum was NOT maroon and in fact, PLUM. He wasn't having it. I think he sees what he wants to see. Whatevs, I love the shirt regardless. They did have a bright blue/white colorway in store (not available online) that I liked too. But probably not enough to have multiples.

Thanks to everyone who took the time out to comment on my last post - I am still on a high from the news today, as you can imagine. I just feel so relieved to not have to worry about finding a job anymore. The additional $8k a year is just icing on the cake. I am exceptionally lucky - I know this. But I also know that I deserve this. I worked very hard at my old job - was loyal to them for over 11 years. I did the best I could do there and left with my head held high, my dignity and integrity intact. The way I was let go was SKETCHY, even if it was during a layoff. I feel like this is my well-deserved raise for all the work I had taken on in the four months or so before I was laid off. Not a bad deal at all - I will have had 16 weeks of paid vacation by the time I start this new job (tentative start date is May 14th!). Not to mention I am still on severance pay - I'll get dual paychecks for two weeks which is AWESOME. I am just happy. I'll be doing something I like doing, which I think is so important. This is such a fantastic opportunity for me.

I have always said that I am a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason. This just reaffirms that belief, tenfold.

  2. So excited that you got the job!

I saw that sweater at the Loft sale - those are beautiful colors!

Hope the Minnies become more mini with washing :)

  3. I'm craving lifesavers now.... not quite fruit loops, but same idea! I hate when the pants create saggy diaper butt. I'm slowly altering all my pants to avoid it.

  4. I love the colors of the shirt. If it makes you feel better, men genetically can't see more colors than women - usually. And usually people who have more names for colors can legit see more colors - which is why some people think it's ridiculous to argue over whether "oyster" or "ecru" is a better shade, but it's just because those people have names for those colors and can actually tell differences between this white and that one, or this green and that one.

Major, major congrats on the new job. Sometimes things do happen for a reason, and it sounds like this one turned out to be a good one!

  5. I thought Minnies were dry clean only? Does that tag say that? I'm not sure what would happen if you dry them. Or maybe they make different versions of it in different fabrics? I only know I wish I had a pair, so maybe you should just send them to me since my butt would probably fill them up and they would fit just right! haha

What kind of work do you do? I am so excited for you! I thought about you on my way to work today, thinking how happy and relieved you must feel and how vindicated to get that extra salary! YES!

  6. You look amazing. Loft alweays has cute sweaters and tops and I soooo miss shopping there while I am away from USA. However I talked to my mom for an hour last night and she is shipping me a bunch of new clothes from the States. Some I had (but I have no idea what she is shipping me so the possibilities of the outfits are what is making this exciting) and some new things she purchased for me in awe of my birthday. And being the awesome mom she is, she also got me new curtains for our new house. She is THE BEST and I am super Lucky I know.

Love your cropped khakis too. Too bad they are a little tight. Try to wash them in the hot cycle and dry them during the longest drying cycle. I am in love with those loafers though and how cute that they have a tiny wedge. I almost purchased new orange loafers last week but the orange ones were too big. I settled for wine-colored ones, baby pink ones and red ones, instead. =) Buying shoes makes me happy - what can I say!! =)

One again congratulations on the new job and YOU ARE A FABULOUS VERSATILE DRESSER!!

  11. Saggy diaper butt sucks, but you look adorable! They make a "cincher" that you can use right above your butt under your shirt that pulls the fabric together...I'll have to look to see what its called, BUTT (haha, get it?) I use it from time to time...

  12. I'm so excited you found a job. I'm selfish and missd you on Facebook! Well and the financial stability is nice too, but Facebook!

I can't believe I'm admitting this but when it comes to diaper butt? If the front looks on I kinda just ignore it! I can't see it!

  14. I thought the same thing as your husband when I saw your shirt! My brother's two years at Tech, all he wore were Hokie shirts. Thank goodness he got a wife and joined the military. :)

Huge congratulations on your job! I'm so glad that they looked past that nutty assessment test.
